What Are Entities in SEO and Why Do Competitors Look More Relevant?
Entities in SEO are the real things Google can identify.
Entities, not just keywords
Google connects your pages to things it already knows, like a service, a city or a certification.
Local signals add up
Neighbourhoods, service areas, a visible address and LocalBusiness schema all tell Google where you work.
Trust is an entity too
Licenses, warranties, awards and review profiles show customers and Google that you are real.
Google understands a local business through them: the services you offer, the places you serve, the brands you work with and the proof you show.
If competitors name these clearly and you do not, their pages look like the better match.
How to Use This Entity SEO Tool in One Check
Add every competitor at once, because each check crawls all sites together.
Enter your website
Type your home page or the service page you want to improve.
Add your competitors
Paste up to 5 competitor websites that rank in your local pack or organic results.
Let the crawl run
The tool reads up to 30 pages per site, service and location pages first. It takes about a minute.
Review the gaps
See which entities 2 or more competitors use that your site does not, sorted by how many use them.
Export and fix
Download the CSV, mark each row Done as you add it, and only add what is true for your business.

CSV
Every entity with status, competitors and where to add it.
Each check is heavy because it crawls several sites, so there is a daily limit.
Entities are found with rules (schema, headings, text patterns and US place names), not AI. Place names outside the US are found from City, State text and schema only.
The learning database stores phrases and counts only, never your URLs or page text.
Entity Optimized Content: How to Add Missing Entities the Right Way
A gap is a prompt to check, not an order to copy a competitor.
Only add what is true
Never claim a license, brand or service area you do not have.
Give services their own page
A service used by most competitors usually deserves a page, not just a mention.
Name real places
Mention the neighbourhoods you serve on city pages, with real jobs and photos.
Back it with schema
Add services, areaServed and sameAs to your LocalBusiness JSON-LD.
SEO Entities FAQ
13 answers about limits, results and how the tool works.
What are entities in SEO?
Entities in SEO are things Google can identify as unique: a business, a service, a place, a brand, a person or a certification. Google connects pages to these entities through its Knowledge Graph, so pages that name them clearly are easier to understand and match to searches.
What is entity based SEO?
Entity based SEO means building pages around the things a topic is about, not only around keywords. For a local business that means naming your services, service areas, equipment, brands and credentials clearly, and backing them with schema.
Entity SEO vs keyword SEO: what is the difference?
Keyword SEO targets the words people type. Entity SEO makes sure Google understands what those words refer to. Both work together: keywords bring the match, entities prove the page covers the topic.
What are local SEO entities?
They are the real things Google connects to a local business: the services it offers, the places it serves, its address and phone, its brands, credentials and online profiles. Clear entities help Google match your pages to local searches.
How does this SEO entities checker work?
You enter your site and up to 5 competitor sites. The tool reads up to 30 pages of each, finds entities in schema, headings and text, and lists the ones that 2 or more competitors use that your site does not.
Is the entity checker free?
Yes. There is no signup. You can run 3 checks per day, and each check covers your site plus up to 5 competitors, so add all of them in one go.
Does it use AI or Google's NLP API?
Not in this version. Entities are found with clear rules, so every result can be traced to schema, a heading or a text pattern on a page. A Google Natural Language option with salience scores is planned for a later version.
Should I copy every entity my competitors use?
No. Add only the services, places, brands and credentials that are true for your business. A gap is a prompt to check your content, not a list to copy.
Which pages are crawled?
Up to 30 pages per site, found from the sitemap and internal links. Service, location, area and about pages are read first because they hold most local entities.
What is the difference between entities and semantic words?
Entities are specific things Google can identify, like a service, a city, a brand or a certification. Semantic words are the related phrases that show a page covers the whole topic, like energy bills or same day service. The tool checks both.
Does the tool learn new terms for my niche?
Yes. After each check, phrases that competitors use in their page copy are counted for that niche. Once a phrase has been seen on 5 different websites, it becomes a learned term and is checked for every later user in that niche. Only phrases and counts are stored.
Can I choose my business category?
Yes. Type or pick from all 4,038 Google Business Profile categories. If you leave it empty, the tool detects your niche from your schema and page content.
Can I export the results?
Yes. The CSV lists every entity with its category, status, how many competitors use it, your page count, where to add it and a Done or Pending column you can update as you work.
Cover What Your Competitors Already Cover
Find the services, places and trust signals your competitors show and you do not, then add the ones that are true for you.
