Website NAP Consistency Checker

Type your real business name, address and phone once. The checker reads up to 50 pages of your site and flags every page where the phone, street, ZIP or LocalBusiness schema says something different. Then paste your Yelp, BBB or Facebook listing to compare it word by word. Each problem comes with a plain fix you can hand to whoever edits the site.

How the NAP Checker Works

Four steps. The website scan takes about 25 seconds at most.

Step 1

Enter your true NAP

Type your business name, street, city, state, ZIP and phone exactly as they appear on your Google Business Profile.

Step 2

Add your website

Paste your home page address. The checker reads your sitemap and links, with contact and location pages first.

Step 3

Read the page report

Each page gets a green, amber or red verdict for phone, address, name and LocalBusiness schema, with a fix for every problem.

Step 4

Check your listings

Switch tabs, paste the text from your Yelp, BBB or Facebook listing, and see the differences highlighted word by word.

What it looks for on each page

Phone numbers in any format, such as (702) 555 0142, 702.555.0142 or +1 702 555 0142, plus tap to call links. Each one is cut down to its 10 digits and compared. It also finds your street with or without abbreviations, your city and ZIP, your business name, and any LocalBusiness JSON-LD block.

What Counts as a NAP Mismatch?

Amber means the information is the same but written another way. Search engines read those as one address, so it is a style choice. Red means a customer could call the wrong line or drive to the wrong place. Fix red first.

Why NAP Consistency Still Matters in Local SEO

Here is a story I see every few months. An HVAC company in Henderson, NV moves to a bigger shop. They update Google. The website footer still has the old suite, the contact page has a number from a call tracking trial two years ago, and the schema in the theme settings still lists the first address. Nobody notices, because nobody reads their own footer.

Google cross checks your business details against what it finds on your site and around the web. When the sources disagree, it has to guess which one is right, and a customer who calls the dead number simply calls a competitor.

I would not promise that fixing NAP alone moves you up the map pack. It does remove a reason for doubt, and it stops lost calls right away. That makes it one of the cheapest jobs in local SEO.

How to Fix NAP Problems the Checker Finds

Most fixes take a few minutes once you know where the text lives.

🏠

Footer and header

Most sites print NAP in a global footer. In WordPress that is usually a footer widget or the theme builder. One edit fixes every page.

πŸ“±

Old phone numbers

Search your page builder for the old digits, and check buttons too. A "Call Now" button often hides the old number inside its tel: link.

🧩

Stale schema

Check your SEO plugin's local business settings, or rebuild the markup with our free schema markup builder.

πŸ“

Location pages

City pages copied from a template often carry another city's ZIP. Our service area page planner helps you plan them cleanly.

πŸ”„

Cached pages

Clear your cache plugin and CDN after edits, then run the check again to confirm the green.

Checking Directory Listings and Citations

The second tab is a NAP citation checker for listings you copy by hand. Open your Yelp page, select the name, address and phone, and paste it in. Do the same for BBB, Facebook, Apple Maps or Angi. Each listing gets its own card with the text highlighted and a table that shows what it says next to what it should say.

We do not scrape directories. Most of them block automated reads, and copying the text yourself means you are looking at the live listing a customer sees.

ℹ️ Where to start

Search your business name on Google and check the listings on page one first. Those are the ones customers click. Once your NAP is clean, ask happy customers for reviews with our Google review link generator.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is NAP consistency?

NAP stands for name, address and phone number. NAP consistency means those three details read the same on your website, your Google Business Profile and every directory that lists you. When a plumber moves shops but his old address still sits on Yelp and in his site footer, customers and search engines get two answers. Consistency removes that doubt.

Does NAP consistency still matter for local SEO?

Yes, though mostly as trust and housekeeping, not a magic ranking lever. Google says it wants accurate business information everywhere. A wrong phone on one page loses calls today, whatever it does to rankings. I treat a clean NAP as table stakes. Fix it once, then spend your time on reviews, photos and strong service pages.

Does "Blvd" vs "Boulevard" count as a mismatch?

No. This checker treats common abbreviations as the same, so Blvd and Boulevard, Ste and Suite, W and West, and # 100 and Suite 100 all match. It still shows them in amber so you can pick one style. Real mismatches are things like a different street number, a missing suite or another ZIP code, and those show in red.

How many pages does the website scan check?

Up to 50 pages per run. It starts with your sitemap, puts contact, about and location pages first, then follows links from your home page. It stops after about 25 seconds so the request never times out. If it runs out of time, the report says so and shows the pages it did finish.

What about call tracking numbers?

They show up as other numbers in red, because the checker cannot tell a tracking number from an old one. That is on purpose. If you use call tracking on landing pages, keep your main number in the footer and in your LocalBusiness schema. A fax line labeled "Fax" next to the number is spotted and shown in amber instead.

I run a service area business with no public address. Can I use this?

Yes. Leave your real street in the form so the tool can spot it if it leaks onto a page, and expect the address to show as not found on most pages. That is fine for a hidden address. Focus on the phone and name results, and make sure your schema does not publish a street you hide on Google.

Does my LocalBusiness schema have to match my visible NAP?

It should. Schema is a second copy of your NAP written for machines, and it often goes stale after a move because nobody sees it. The checker reads the JSON-LD on each page and compares the telephone, streetAddress, addressLocality, addressRegion and postalCode to your true NAP. If you need fresh markup, build it with our free schema builder.

How do I fix a wrong NAP on Yelp, BBB or Facebook?

Claim the listing as the owner, then edit the business info inside that platform. Yelp uses Yelp for Business, BBB uses its business portal, and Facebook uses your Page settings. Some edits need a phone or email check and can take a few days to show. Start with the listings that rank for your business name, since customers see those first.
