Service Area Radius and ZIP Code Finder

Pick your shop on the map or type a ZIP code, then choose how far you travel. You get every US ZIP code and city inside that circle, sorted by distance. The tool also picks up to 20 cities for your Google Business Profile service area, since Google takes names, not a radius. Export it all as CSV.

πŸ“ 40,000+ US ZIP codesπŸ“ 5 to 100 milesβœ… CSV exportπŸ›‘οΈ Nothing uploaded

Click the map or search a ZIP or city to set your center. The ZIP dataset (about 0.6 MB) loads on first use.

Distances are straight line (haversine) from your center to each ZIP's center point, not driving miles. Population is for the whole city or town from GeoNames, not for each ZIP. Smaller places may show n/a.

How to Find ZIP Codes Within a Radius

Four steps. Most people are done in under a minute.

Step 1

Set your center

Type a ZIP code like 89052 or a city like "Henderson, NV". You can also click your shop or home base on the map. A city search uses the middle of all its ZIP codes.

Step 2

Pick a radius

Drag the slider or type a number from 5 to 100 miles. Think about how far your trucks really go on a normal day, not on the one job you took two years ago.

Step 3

Check the list

The circle and every ZIP inside it show up on the map. Switch between the city view and the ZIP view. Both are sorted by distance from your center.

Step 4

Export or send

Download the ZIP or city CSV, copy the 20 suggested cities for your profile, or send them to the page planner to map out city pages.

Google Business Profile Service Areas Use Names, Not a Radius

A lot of owners go looking for a radius setting in their profile and never find one. That is on purpose. Google's service area help page spells out the rules:

RuleWhat Google says
How many areasUp to 20 service areas
How farAbout 2 hours of driving time from your base, at most
RadiusNot allowed. Add cities, ZIP codes or other named areas
AddressHide it if you do not serve customers there

So how do you pick the 20?

Start with the radius you really drive. Then pick the biggest places inside it, because that is where most of the searches happen. This tool ranks cities by population when it has the number, and by distance when it does not. A plumber based in Mesa, AZ with a 20 mile circle will see Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert and Tempe near the top, which matches where the calls come from.

Cities or ZIP Codes: Which to Use Where

The same circle feeds a few different jobs. Here is how I use each list for clients.

πŸ™οΈ

Business Profile

Cities. Twenty city names cover far more ground than twenty ZIP codes, and people search by city.

πŸ“£

Google and Meta ads

ZIP codes. Paste the ZIP list into location targeting when you want tight control over where ads show.

πŸ“„

City pages

Cities. Send them to the service area page planner and build pages only where you have real jobs.

🧩

Schema markup

Cities. List them in areaServed with our schema markup builder.

πŸ“¬

Direct mail

ZIP codes. Postcard and door hanger campaigns are planned by ZIP, so the CSV drops right into a mail list order.

🚚

Dispatch and pricing

Both. Use the distance column to set trip charges by ring, like free inside 10 miles and a fee past 25.

What This Tool Can and Can't Tell You

βœ… What it does well

It finds every ZIP code whose center point falls inside your circle, fast, with no account. It groups them by city, shows city population where GeoNames has it, and gives you clean CSV files. The math runs on your device, so nothing about your business is sent anywhere.

⚠️ Where to be careful

Distance is a straight line, not a drive. A ZIP whose center sits just outside the circle will be left out even if part of it is inside. Population is per city, not per ZIP. And a big circle across a lake or a mountain range can list towns your crew never reaches, so trim the list by hand.

Data sources and licenses

ZIP codes, place names and coordinates: GeoNames US postal code file, via the zauberware postal codes mirror. City population: GeoNames cities file, via the all-the-cities package. Both are licensed CC BY 4.0. We trimmed the files to the fields this tool needs. GeoNames postal data is not an official USPS list, so a brand new ZIP may be missing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find all ZIP codes within a radius?

Type a ZIP code or a city above, or click a spot on the map, then pick a radius from 5 to 100 miles. The tool checks the distance from your center to the center point of every US ZIP code and lists the ones inside. You can sort through them by city or by ZIP and download both lists as CSV files.

Can I set a radius as my Google Business Profile service area?

No. Google says you cannot set a service area as a radius around your business. You add areas by name instead, such as cities or ZIP codes, and you can add up to 20. That is why this tool turns your radius into a list of named cities you can type straight into your profile.

How many service areas can I add on Google?

Google allows up to 20 service areas per Business Profile. Its help page also says your overall area should not reach much past about 2 hours of driving from where you are based. The suggested list here stops at 20 cities, so you never pick more than the profile will take.

Should I add cities or ZIP codes to my profile?

Most service businesses do best with cities. Customers search by city name, and 20 cities usually cover far more ground than 20 ZIP codes. ZIP codes make sense when you only serve part of a big city, like a pool cleaner who covers the north side of Phoenix but not the south.

Are the distances driving miles?

No. They are straight line miles, worked out with the haversine formula from your center to the center point of each ZIP code. Driving distance is almost always longer, and rivers, mountains or a lack of bridges can make it much longer. Use the radius as a starting point, then trim places your crew rarely reaches.

Where does the ZIP and population data come from?

ZIP codes, city names and center points come from the GeoNames US postal code file, licensed CC BY 4.0. City population comes from the GeoNames cities file through the all-the-cities package, also CC BY 4.0. Population is for the whole city or town, not each ZIP, and very small places may show n/a.

Do service areas help my map rankings?

Not directly. Google has said for years that rankings in the map pack lean on distance from the searcher, relevance and prominence. Service areas mostly tell customers where you work. Adding a city 40 miles away will not make you rank there. Real jobs, reviews and pages about that city help far more.

What do I do with the city list after this?

Paste the top cities into the service area field of your Google Business Profile. Then press Send to Service Area Page Planner to plan city pages for your website. The planner opens with your cities filled in, with the center city first, so you can build titles, slugs and an internal link map.

Turn Your Radius Into 20 Real Cities

Draw the circle you really drive, copy the cities into your profile, and plan the pages that back them up.
